looks good. looks like I will be getting my sci-fi mmo fix from instead of stargate worlds although im still hopefully that stargate will eventually be released
It will provide more power than the power of the laser's. OK fine, BUT will it provide more power than it takes to run the plant, refine the fuel, cover the energy needed to create the hardware needed to run the plant. Sure it's great they are getting greater output but unless it's more than the power to run and maintain ALL aspects of the powerplant it actually would cost energy to run the plant. I have no idea how much energy that would mean but it would have to be a substantially higher percentage by far to make it worthwhile to build and run a plant like this. I think you'd need to have an at least doubling of power to make it sustainable. Also if there is waste it takes energy to move, dispose of, and maintain the waste facility which is a factor when you figure plant energy usage. Heck you could also maintain that the people driving to work use energy if you wanted to cover all the bases and I imagine a plant like this would require a lot of worker and some might drive a long way to get to work.Scientist tend to forget when doing these experiments it takes energy to build stuff that goes into them and keep it in working order. A lot of them are just worried about surpassing a goal that is at this moment just getting more energy back than is put into the lasers which is an achievement but is just a first step since if is not much more than this could be totally useless for large scale sustainable energy production.

When or if such medical advances come to fruition, I really wonder whether they would be in wide proliferation to such humble and seemingly marginalised people..

While we may be centuries away from "replicating" organic objects, such as food, it's easy to see where this technology could go with the non-organic material. Very intriguing.?

"Ironically, users of operating systems like Mac OS X and variations of Linux are the most vocal and ardent crusaders against Internet Explorer--and they can't use Internet Explorer if they wanted to."That's not irony.

The goal is to make sure these immigrants integrate rather than try to exclude them. I went to a public high school full of Somalian refugees when I was in Canada. About half of them don't even practice Islam anymore because they have integrated into the culture(they go out drinking, eat bacon, etc). In a generation or two only a very minor % will still be religious.

usually when someone says 'there oughtta be a law', there really oughtn't be. Most of these laws would run afoul of the privacy clause that roe v wade found in the constitution [after going unnoticed for 200 years]. Being pro choice means all reproductive choice, even those that aren't in the political correctness stable. The precedent has already been cut. |
